Turq's #8 pendant

Turq's #8 pendant

A gorgeous chunk of #8 mine Turquoise

The #8 mine is located in Eureka County, north of Carlin, Nevada

This mine was first opened in 1929 and was closed to turquoise mining in 1961. It is still mined but only for gold as it is believed the turquoise has been depleted.

The beautiful matrix is a signature of this type of turquoise and I gravitate towards the blue offset by the rich autumn colour. I picked out this stone from a local bay area dealer at a show i do fairly often. All #8 cabochons are considered vintage or antique turquoise and have a higher value.

Surrounded in antique beading, this stone is set in fine silver and encased in heavy gauge sterling silver. All jump rings soldered shut.

Back is stamped with “ go your own way”

Sits on an 18”sterling silver rolo chain and may be oxidized at no additional charge

Handmade in my mobile studio in Orange County, California
